PORTALBERITA.CO.ID - The world of rock and roll collided unexpectedly with academia this past Sunday night when Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger made a surprise appearance at a local Oxford pub. The legendary musician treated patrons to an impromptu musical interlude during the venue's traditional weekly gathering, as reported by the BBC.
The 82-year-old rock star chose The Half Moon in St Clements as the setting for this unexpected performance. He joined a small group of musicians for a rendition of the traditional tune "Handsome Molly," a track notably featured on his 1993 solo effort, Wandering Spirit.
Sir Mick was in the historic city as a guest of Oriel College, accompanied by his partner, former American ballerina Melanie Hamrick. The couple had spent time engaging with the college community, attending Evensong in the chapel and dining at the high table.
The college confirmed the sequence of events that led to the pub performance. "After dinner and drinks in the SCR (Senior Common Room) a small group went off to the pub where Mick gave an impromptu performance with Rolling Stones keyboard player Matt Clifford and Oriel Politics academic Robert Cheah," the college stated.
An official representative from The Half Moon expressed profound pleasure regarding the rock legend's unannounced visit. The pub spokesperson confirmed they were "delighted" by Sir Mick's "surprise cameo."
